Design and Implementation of ESHS Management Systems

JGP has designed, developed and assisted with implementation of several Environmental, Social and Health and Safety Management Systems (ESHS-MS) Management Systems for large multi-site corporations. Many of these have been developed to meet Lender requirements.

The IFC Environmental and Social Performance Standards constitute the main reference adopted by JGP in the development of ESHS Management Systems. These establish a framework which is broader than that adopted in Management Systems in compliance with ISO and other ESHS-MS certification standards, as the scope of the Management Systems is not limited to intramural matters within project sites, but must cover extramural aspects, such as procedures regarding supply chain governance, requirements concerning control of product life cycles, procedures for identification and management of external indirect impacts and cumulative effects, among others.

Over time, JGP has developed the ESHS Management System for over 25 large multi-site corporations. This has included electricity distribution companies, toll-road concessionaires, renewable energy developers, water and sanitation concessionaires, cattle rearing and beef processing companies, sugar and ethanol mills, mining corporations, oil and gas companies and real estate developers. In many cases, JGP has been retained to develop only specific management plans or programs to meet Lender requirements as established in ESAPs.
