Teles Pires Hydropower Plant has total installed capacity of 1.820 MW. It is located in the Teles Pires river, within the Amazon biome. The reservoir created by the dam occupies a total surface area of 150,04 Km.2.
Starting 2007 JGP carried out several environmental and social studies related to the project, including the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and subsequently the E&S Management Plans required for the project’s construction permit (LI). Starting September 2012 when the project´s construction began, JGP acted as Lender Environmental and Social Consultant during the construction and early operation phases.
The territories of the Kayabi, Munduruku, and Apiaká indigenous groups are located downstream of the Teles Pires dam. JGP developed the required ethno-ecological studies as part of the permitting process, including ecological and social baseline surveys, as well as FPIC consultation processes at all villages. Furthermore, Indigenous Peoples Development Plans (IPDPs) were agreed each of the three ethnic groups.
