ATOME retained the services of JGP to develop the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) of a Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Production Plant with capacity of 89,045 tons/year located in Villeta, Paraguay.
The services included preparation of two (02) versions of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), one for the Government of Paraguay (MADES) and the other for the financial entities (IDB Invest).
Subsequently, the client decided to alter the project to produce nitrogen fertilizer. A new ESIA was prepared for the expanded facility which added mainly a hydrolysis plant, the air separation unit and the ammonia (NH3) plant. The capacity of the new plant will be 259,500 tons/year of fertilizer (CAN). The new ESIA was developed to comply with IDB Invest’s Sustainability Policy and IFC Performance Standards.
