1999 | 2007

Country: Brazil | State of São Paulo

Client: Ecovias dos Imigrantes (Concessionaire)

The Imigrantes Toll Road Duplication (Anchieta – Imigrantes Highway System) crossing the Serra do Mar State Park in São Paulo, a large area of natural forest that is protected by Brazilian environmental legislation, has become an international reference in environmental management. The project consists of a three lane, 21 kilometer expressway that crosses extremely sensitive areas of pristine Atlantic Rainforest, dropping 2.500 feet in altitude, which required an alignment that included 5 major tunnels (total 8.2 Km.) and 9 viaducts with a total length of 4.3 Km.

JGP was responsible for preparation of the supplementary Impact Assessments and Permitting and detailing of E&S Management Plans for the construction phase. Further, JGP was responsible for Construction Environmental Management as well the implementation of E&S Management Plans

Project implementation proceeded as a toll-road concession and JGP assisted the concessionaire in complying with requirements of the financial entities (IDB-led). The project is considered an international reference in environmental management and our client became the first toll-road concessionaire globally to obtain ISO 14001 certification supported by the E&S Management System developed by JGP. Several environmental awards were granted to the client for this project.
