The PERU LNG Project is the largest oil and gas project ever developed in Peru and required investments of over US$ 4 billion. The Project was funded by a group of five international financial institutions and includes a 408- Km.trans-Andean pipeline bringing natural gas from the Camisea concession areas in the Peruvian Amazon and an LNG plant as well as a port terminal in Melchorita on the Pacific Ocean coast.
Between 2006 and 2012 (covering construction and the first 2 years of operation), JGP was the Lenders Environmental and Social Consultant on the Project. JGP also was responsible for review and approval of the Detailed Environmental and Social Management Plans (construction phase) developed by the main contractor in compliance with the guidelines established by Lenders. Subsequently, in 2011, JGP was retained to review and approve, jointly with the financial institutions, the Integrated Environmental, Social and Health and Safety Management System for the Project’s operation phase.
