A high-capacity ring road totaling 170 Km. surrounding Sao Paulo Metropolitan Region (population over 23 million) was implemented in four phases beginning in 1999. It intercepts densely populated and environmentally sensitive regions as well as more than 40 municipalities. It connects 10 radial highways. All four segments of the beltway had a total CAPEX of over USD 17 billion. This is the largest and most complex urban transportation project in Latin America.

Between 1997 and 2023 JGP was responsible for the ESIAs and ESMPs and management of associated permitting procedures of the four segments. More than 60 public hearings were conducted. JGP’s involvement also included: implementation of a significant part of the environmental and social management plans required by the environmental authorities as well as project finance support to meet lender social and environmental requirements.
