Environmental and Social Management Plan Implementation
Very frequently JGP has been retained to implement the Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP) that are required of projects during the legal permitting process and/or in the Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) agreed with Lenders. These programs may be very diverse and many are required not only during construction but throughout a project´s operational life cycle. Typically, these will include management programs (waste, hazardous products, erosion control, construction footprint management, similar), monitoring programs (water quality, air quality, noise and vibration, other), contingency plans (spill response, fire prevention, other emergency response), social and community programs (social compensation projects, environmental education, local employment, local supplier development, gender neutral initiatives, grievance management), among others. Management of community relations and implementation of social projects is a key task in many projects and is essential in obtaining Broad Community Support (BCS).
JGP has been responsible for ESMP implementation during construction and/or operation on a wide variety of projects, mostly in Brazil and Peru. Over past experience in this type of service includes more than 70 major projects.
Environmental Supervision of Construction
JGP has vast experience in environmental supervision of construction. This experience is internationally recognized, particularly in the case of road projects, transmission lines and hydroelectric plants.
Environmental supervision of construction is a major line of work for JGP and this experience covers more than 90 large infrastructure projects. We perform this role not only for project developers interested in minimizing environmental risks and impacts and assuring compliance with requirements in environmental permits, but also on behalf of Lenders seeking assurance that project construction follows best international environmental practice.
